BP halted oil production from Central Azeri platform in Caspian for safety reasons
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), led by BP Azerbaijan has stopped oil production from Central Azeri platform in the contract area of Azerbaijani sector f the Caspian Sea.
AIOC press service informs that gas was revealed today morning nearby CA platform.
“In this connection for the reasons of security operation f the platform was suspended and its staff evacuated. Currently we continue observing the situation around the platform,” the press service said.
The situation with other AIOC producing platforms in the Caspian will be studied in this context as well.
Since 1994 AIOC has been developing Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field block reserves of over 900 million tons of oil. In September 2008 it reached stable production of 900,000 bpd, main volume of which is produced by Azeri where three producing platforms are operating.
