April 23, Fineko/abc.az. Two large wind farms with combined capacity of 2 GW will be constructed in Kazakhstan.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to the press service of the akimat of Zhambyl region, that in 2029, UAE-based company Masdar will build a 1 GW wind farm in Sarysu and Talas districts. The project cost will be $1.4 billion. The company will start construction in 2026.
Another 1 GW wind farm will be built by 2028 in the Moyinkum district. $1.9 billion will be invested in the project.
In the global ranking, Kazakhstan ranks 145th out of 195 in terms of the share of electricity generated from renewable energy sources. The share of renewable energy sources in the total electricity generation in the country by the end of 2024 was 6.43%.
