April 23, Fineko/abc.az. The joint statement signed between Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China on the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership provides for new opportunities in the field of electronic commerce. The deepening of economic ties between the two countries and the development of paperless electronic commerce are identified as priority areas.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to portal Azexport.az, operated by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, has been engaged since 2017 in the placement of Azerbaijani products on 15 of the world's leading e-commerce platforms. Among the successes achieved, Chinese platform Alibaba occupies a special place. Ayhan Gadashov, head of the portal, noted that Azexport and Alibaba have history of cooperation lasting more than seven years.
At the first stage of cooperation, only three local companies with 10 product names were represented on the platform. Thanks to Azexport portal’s activities, these figures have grown rapidly, and today Alibaba has become one of the leading platforms in terms of the number of export orders and requests for Azerbaijani products. Within this cooperation, the opportunities for Azerbaijani goods to enter not only the Chinese market, but also the markets of other Asian countries, Oceania and the Persian Gulf countries have significantly expanded.
Ayhan Gadashov stressed that the Alibaba platform is a modern and strategically important digital resource in terms of increasing the international competitiveness of products manufactured in Azerbaijan and ensuring their entry into new markets. At the same time, the high-level recognition and support of cooperation in the field of e-commerce by both countries creates conditions for wider use of these opportunities.
