May 14, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is among the countries that may soon join the Abraham Accords (agreements on normalizing relations between Arab countries and Israel), ABC.AZ reports, quoting U.S. Presidential Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, as saying this in an interview with Breitbart.
In his opinion, 4-6 countries, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Syria, and Lebanon, may join this agreement over the next few months.
“My prediction is that sometime relatively soon we’re going to see the potential for Lebanon and even Syria to normalize... It could happen with Libya. It could happen, and I’m talking about getting countries into the Abraham Peace Accords, it could happen with Azerbaijan and Armenia, where we believe we’re very, very close to a settlement-a final settlement-of the conflicts in those countries. Both, I believe, might be willing to join the Abraham Peace Accords,» Witkoff said.
Witkoff stressed that Azerbaijan and Armenia are close to resolving the conflict.
The Abraham Peace Accords are a series of agreements on the normalization of relations between Israel and a number of Arab States signed in 2020-2021. The Abraham Peace Accords have strengthened cooperation between Israel and a number of Arab countries in the defense, cyber, and economic fields, especially in trade and investment.
