June 21, Fineko/abc.az. International practice shows that legalization and regulation of casinos brings billions of dollars in revenue to states and promotes the development of tourism.

ABC.AZ reports that according to MP Vasif Gafarov, such countries as Macau (China), Singapore, the UAE, South Korea and Georgia, having created closed gambling zones, have achieved an increase in foreign exchange earnings and stability. In 2024, Macau's casino earnings totaled $28.3 billion, more than 40% of GDP.

Gafarov suggested adapting this experience to national interests and creating zones in Azerbaijan accessible only to foreign tourists. At the same time, strict control, licensing and measures against gambling addiction must be ensured.

In his opinion, such a step could strengthen the oil sector, create jobs and attract tourists.
