September 26, Fineko/abc.az. India and Russia are able to develop fruitful cooperation in the field of small modular reactors (SMRs) construction, including projects in third countries.

ABC.AZ informs that the statement was made by the former head of the information department at the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India, Swapnesh Kumar Malhotra.

"The Ministry of Atomic Energy of India is developing small Bharat reactors with capacity of 200 MW. They will have huge export potential, especially to developing countries with small power grids," he said.

In his opinion, India and Russia could jointly build such facilities in other countries, attracting uranium from the Russian Federation.

The Indian government has invested over $2 billion in SMR research and development, with the goal of launching at least five of its own samples by 2033.
