11:02 - 8.10.2025

October 8, Fineko/abc.az. In the first half of 2025, renewable sources generated 5,072 TWh, exceeding coal-fired generation (4,896 TWh) and increasing by 7.7% year-on-year.

ABC.AZ informs that the main growth was provided by solar energy - +31%, which accounted for 83% of increase in global electricity demand.

Coal use decreased by 0.6%, gas by 0.2%, and total energy emissions by 0.2%.

According to Ember think tank, this is the first sign of global transition to clean energy: solar and wind power are growing fast enough to cover global consumption growth.
