October 10, Fineko/abc.az. The protection of biometric data is one of the most important issues that is closely related to privacy today.
ABC.AZ reports that Aydin Verdiyev, the head of the Cybersecurity Office of the Department of Criminology & Information Technologies at the Prosecutor General's Office, made this statement at a conference in Baku.
He noted that the Constitution of Azerbaijan ensures the protection of personal data and, based on these principles, the Laws on Personal Data and on Biometric Information have been adopted. These laws establish rules for the collection, processing, and use of biometric data: "The mechanisms of struggle in this area are built on several levels. First, the regulatory framework: This means that the legislation defines special mechanisms for monitoring the processing of biometric information. Secondly, legal liability measures - administrative offenses and criminal codes provide for appropriate types of liability for the illegal use of this information. And thirdly, judicial and administrative protection - citizens can apply to courts and government agencies for restoration of violated rights."
