October 15, Fineko/abc.az. The European Union is considering the possibility of forcing Chinese companies to transfer technologies as a condition for continuing operations on the territory of the EU.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to Bloomberg’s sources, that this step will increase the competitiveness of the industry in European countries. The sources of the publication claim that the measures are to be applied to those Chinese companies that wish to gain access to key digital and manufacturing markets, such as cars and batteries.

The publication notes that Chinese companies may be required to use a certain amount of goods or labor from the EU, as well as increase the added value of products in the territory of the Union. Joint ventures with China may also be established to increase the competitiveness of EU industry.

Bloomberg claims that the new rules may come into force in November.
