November 5, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he is re-nominating Jared Isaakman, an astronaut and friend of billionaire SpaceX founder Elon Musk, to the post of NASA administrator, five months after Isaakman's initial candidacy was withdrawn.
ABC.AZ reports that Isaacman, an e-commerce magnate who has twice flown into orbit, was removed from consideration for the post of head of the space agency in late May amid a high-profile conflict between Trump and Musk. Sean Duffy, the head of the U.S. Department of Transportation, was appointed interim head of NASA in July.
Isaacman's return as Trump's nominee to head NASA came two weeks after the conflict between Duffy and Musk: Duffy invited SpaceX competitors to compete for the lunar contract, and Musk publicly ridiculed him in response, saying that "the head of the space program cannot have a double-digit IQ".
