November 13, Fineko/abc.az. The area of fruit and berry orchards in Azerbaijan increased by 10% in 2024 compared to 2019.

ABC.AZ informs that Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov made the above-said statement at a joint meeting of the relevant committees of the Milli Majlis.

According to the minister, during the same period, the area of cotton fields increased by 2.7%, grain and leguminous crops decreased by 4.8%.

Mammadov noted that the increase in the share of orchards and berry fields in the structure of crops contributes to the growth of added value and has positive effect on employment.

The minister stressed that in the medium term, in order to increase productivity and sustainable crop production, it is planned to expand intensive gardens, introduce modern irrigation systems and support the practice of soil restoration by leaving land fallow.
