November 14, Fineko/abc.az. Taking into account the historical, cultural, religious, linguistic and ethnic proximity, there is great and steady interest in mutual trips between the peoples of the two countries, which is confirmed by statistical indicators of recent years.

ABC.AZ reports that the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mujtaba Demirchilu, said this in an interview.

According to the diplomat, simplification of movement of citizens is the main and necessary condition for comprehensive development of tourism, along with closer acquaintance of peoples with each other.

The diplomat noted that optimizing and reducing travel time and expenses is one of the main factors in stimulating tourism development: "To this end, Iran has abolished visa requirements for Azerbaijani citizens, and they can visit Iran without any additional difficulties. In addition, direct flights between the two countries have recently been restored, and a significant increase in the number of flights to various cities in both countries is planned in the future. It is also hoped that the full opening of the land borders will create conditions for simplifying and expanding mutual travel between citizens of the two countries."
