November 18, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan Institute of Metrology (AzMİ), which is subordinate to the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation & Consumer Market Control, has taken an important step towards the formation of national temporary infrastructure.
ABC.AZ informs with reference to the agency that for the first time the National Reference Time, i.e. UTC (AZ), has been confirmed by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (Bureau International des Poids et Mesures - BIPM).
Currently, Azerbaijan is among the countries with a laboratory that contributes to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Thus, the AzMİ Time and Frequency Measurement Laboratory regularly sends data to BIPM on the time difference between National Time and satellite systems.
This laboratory is equipped with high–precision cesium atomic clocks, satellite signal receivers and a time distribution system based on NTP (Network Time Protocol).
