Azerbaijan increases imports of premium gasoline from abroad

November 18, Fineko/abc.az. In the first 9 months of 2025, Azerbaijan saw a significant increase in imports of motor gasoline.

ABC.AZ informs that import of premium gasoline with octane rating of 95, which reached 55,800 tons in 2024, more than doubled for Jan-Sept 2025 and reached 105,300 tons. The cost increased from $53.8 million up to $89.7 million.

Gasoline from Russia and Romania became the main source of growth. In 2025, the average import price for gasoline with octane rating of 95 was $852 per ton. In 2024, this figure was $964 per ton.

Imports of gasoline with octane rating of 92 decreased by 5.4% compared with the same period of last year. Imports dropped from 87,800 tons in 2024 to 83,000 tons in 2025. This year, there were no supplies from suppliers such as Lithuania, Bulgaria and Latvia, instead, volumes from Belarus and Russia increased. In 2025, the average import price per ton of gasoline with octane rating of 92 fell from about $885 to $775.8.

An increase was also observed in imports of gasoline with octane rating of 98. Imports increased from 1,536 tons in 2024 to 1,777 tons in 2025. The cost also increased from $1.88 million to $2.17 million. The average price was about $1,225 per ton in 2025, compared with about $1,226 per ton in 2024. The main suppliers are again Russia and Romania.
