December 4, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey is moving towards the right path of creating an international gas hub, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.
"As the volume of competitive gas supplied to Turkey and export opportunities increase, I think we will automatically create this gas hub," the minister said.
Bayraktar highlighted the volume and opportunities of the Turkish gas market:
"We have a large market, there are significant opportunities, and we can supply from 7 bcm up to 70-80 bcm of gas a year to Turkey. [...] We are monitoring the situation and have moved the Energy Exchange (EPIAŞ) to the Istanbul financial hub."
According to Bayraktar, Turkish gas is imported in 14 directions, including through gas pipelines from Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran.
