December 5, Fineko/abc.az. The European Commission has imposed a fine of €120 million on social network X for violating transparency in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). This is the first decision to impose a fine for non-compliance with DSA requirements, ABC.AZ reports, quoting the official representative of Tom Rainier.

"Company X's use of the blue check mark for verified accounts is misleading users. This violates the DSA's obligation for online platforms to prohibit misleading practices in services," he stated.

As a result, this deception exposes users to the risk of fraud, including identity forgery, as well as other forms of manipulation by intruders.

The DSA prohibits online platforms from falsely stating that users have been verified if such verification has not been performed.

The platform also does not respect transparency in advertising matters and does not provide access to public data for investigations.
