December 8, Fineko/abc.az. A number of works on digitization of transit documents are to be carried out in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ reports that State Customs Committee’s deputy chairman Fuad Mammadov stated about this at the event of forum "Customs-Business 2025: Dialogue & Trust" in Baku.

"At the same time, the customs authorities apply advanced technical controls, use international instruments and systems, which is one of the factors influencing the volume of transit. Starting in 2022, transit cargo along the Middle Corridor will increase by almost 90%. This is due to the fact that we have the largest merchant fleet in the Caspian Sea. In addition, the Baku International Seaport operates, the capacity of which is to increase to 25 million tons a year. The presence of advanced cargo operators and the operation of nine international airports in the country are also considered contributing factors to these processes," he said.
