December 9, Fineko/abc.az. In the third quarter of 2025, 2,233 cases of payment card fraud occurred in Azerbaijan in the amount of 1.185 million manats (3.4-fold and 3.9-fold more, respectively, than for Q2), ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The cost of fraud cases involving payment cards abroad decreased by 28.4% to 308,668 manats, and the number of such cases grew by 59.6% up to 7,669.

In the 3rd quarter, 39.4% of fraud cases within the country related to account hijacking (5.4 percentage points less), and 60.6% related to other types of fraud (5.4 p.p. more), 73% of fraud cases abroad related without the physical presence of the card (7.1 p.p. less), 27% - with other cases (by 7.1 p.p. more).

From July to September, 98.9% of fraud within the country (less by 0.9 p.p.) occurred through e–commerce and a mobile application, 1.1% (more by 0.9 p.p.) - in other cases, 86.6% of fraud abroad (less by 0.5 p.p.) occurred through e-commerce and mobile applications, and 13.4% (more by 0.5 p.p.) - in other cases.
