January 23, Fineko/abc.az. American corporation Amazon plans a second round of employee layoffs next week, with close to 14,000 people under threat of redundancy.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to Reuters news agency’s sources, that the cuts will affect Amazon Web Services, the retail division, Prime Video and the human resources department. The agency emphasizes that the American corporation is making cuts as part of the overall goal of laying off about 30,000 employees, which will be the largest wave of layoffs of the company's employees. In 2022, 27,000 employees were laid off.

Reuters notes that earlier, Andy Jesse, CEO at Amazon Corporation, publicly stated the need for greater use of AI in order to combat excessive bureaucracy. It is indicated that the final scale of the cuts can be adjusted depending on the financial priorities of the company.

Earlier, American newspaper The New York Times reported on Amazon's plans to automate 75% of work operations. The company intends to put robots in more than 600,000 jobs by 2033, on which otherwise it would have to hire people.
