Size of Azerbaijan's domestic public debt becomes known

February 4, Fineko/abc.az. As of January 1, 2026, Azerbaijan's domestic public debt amounted to 17.804 billion manats, including government securities in circulation for 9.006 billion and government guaranteed obligations for 8.797 billion.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the Ministry of Finance, 9.2% of government securities had maturities of 1 year, 51.8% -maturities of 2 and 3 years, and 39% - maturities of 5 years or more.

The replacement of short-term government bonds with government bonds with maturity of mainly 5-10 years has led to a significant increase in the average maturity of government bonds to 3.3 years. In order to support the development of the domestic financial market in accordance with the Public Debt Management Strategy for the Medium and Long Term, as well as part of the replacement of external public debt with domestic public debt, the amount of government securities in circulation grew 8.5-fold against 2018.
