February 9, Fineko/abc.az. Indonesia has proposed Azerbaijan to conclude an aviation agreement to increase the tourist flow.

ABC.AZ informs, quoting Indonesia's Ambassador to Baku Berlian Helmi, that tourism is one of the most promising areas of cooperation with Azerbaijan and the two countries have already signed an agreement on halal tourism in 2022.

"The main thing is to increase accessibility: direct flights, visas, travel packages, and so on. On February 5, I met with State Tourism Agency’s chairman Fuad Nagiyev and suggested several options for flights: a direct flight from Azerbaijan Airlines to Jakarta or Bali, code-sharing with Turkish Airlines and Garuda Indonesia, or flights via transit hubs. He also suggested concluding a general aviation agreement as a first step towards direct flights," the diplomat said.

Helmi stressed that e-visa is already in effect for Azerbaijani tourists upon arrival in Indonesia.

"I hope to switch to visa-free regime in the future - this will be discussed at bilateral consultations and, possibly, during negotiations of the leaders," he said.
