February 10, Fineko/abc.az. In the first 11 months of 2025, shipments of liquefied natural gas from the U.S. to EU countries reached a record of €23.2 bn, which is more than double the figure for Jan-Nov 2024.
ABC.AZ informs that the largest importers of American LNG are the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Growth is attributed to EU’s strategy to replace Russian energy resources and a $750 billion long-term agreement with the U.S.
At the same time, concerns are growing in Europe because of the high dependence on American gas, which ensures up to 50-60% of EU's LNG needs. U.S.’ political statements caused additional tension, after which the EU countries intensified search for alternative suppliers in Canada, Qatar and North Africa. At that, Russia provided nearly 18% of EU's liquefied methane needs in January, while other suppliers are still noticeably inferior to the U.S. in terms of volume.
