Vietnam to build LNG power plant for $974 million

February 10, Fineko/abc.az. Vietnam Electricity (EVN), a state-owned company, has signed a contract for the construction of LNG power plant Quang Trach II for $974 million with a consortium of PowerChina and Lilama.

ABC.AZ informs that a 1,612 MW plant will be built in the central province of Kuangchi, equipped with General Electric Vernova turbines and commissioned by 2030.

The project is aimed at improving energy security, reliability of the energy system and reducing emissions. Currently, more than 40% of Vietnam's electricity is produced at coal-fired power plants, with the country aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
