A 10% tax on income from cryptocurrencies proposed in Turkey

March 3, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey’s ruling party, Justice & Development Party (AKP), led by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has proposed to include in the tax legislation a 10% tax on income and profits from crypto transactions with a quarterly deduction.

ABC.AZ informs that the president will be able to change the rate from 0% to 20% depending on the type of asset, the period of ownership and other factors.

The bill also provides for a 0.03% transaction tax for crypto service providers, and investors outside licensed platforms are required to declare income.

The aim of the initiative is to legalize the sector and increase budget revenues. The regulations will come into force two months after publication.
