The WhatsApp team is developing WhatsApp Plus, a new optional premium subscription plan for the standard consumer app that will offer users extra features in exchange for a monthly fee, in partiuclar 14 new icons, personalized colors and themes, an increase in the limit of pinned chats from 3 to 20, exclusive ringtones and stickers.

ABC.AZ reports that the launch of a paid subscription will not affect the free version of the messenger: messages, calls, media sharing and privacy tools will remain free.

According to Android Police, Meta is returning to a monetization model that can interest experienced users and attract a significant audience.
